Ijere has held several senior positions in the Shell Group in Nigeria and globally. He was at various times: External Relations Manager for Shell Exploration and Production Company Ltd (SNEPCo), Technology & Operations Manager for Shell E&P based in the Hague, Regional IT/IM Manager for Shell EPG (Africa Region), Head Appraisal and Management Information for SPDC and IT Planning and Strategy Manager for Brunei Shell.

He is a board member of Insight Oil & Gas Consultants, Adelaar Energy Ltd and Adelaar E&P Ltd.

Ijere has a B.Sc. in Electronics/Electrical Engineering from the University of Ife, an MBA from Edinburgh Business School in the United Kingdom and Group Business Leadership programme certificate from IMD, Lausanne in Switzerland.
